I am really happy to be able to introduce you to the fifth Maker in my Maker Spaces book today, jewellery designer, Alix Blüh who lives and works in San Francisco.
I discovered Alix thanks to a post on the Makeshift Society (thank you so much Victoria!) and a lovely email from Kelly Wilkinson from Creative Bug with a link to this gorgeous video. I actually cried when I watched it (happy tears!) because it really represented the maker movement to me, and I knew I had to have Alix in my book.
Alix shares an amazing, creative home with her boyfriend photographer Michael Jang and a short walk away Alix has the most incredibly gallery and studio, Modern Relics. Alix's attention to detail is so strong that it actually blew me away and totally inspired me for months after I spent the day with her. I am so excited to be meeting up with her again in May.
There is so much I want to tell you about Alix and all of the wonderful makers in my book but I want to save that for the book itself, so before I get carried away here are some iPhone snaps of Alix's stunning maker spaces.
Alix's jewellery is so beautiful. Take a peek.
There are still a few of the limited edition signed copies with the letterpress prints to pre-order. I really can't wait for the day I get to send them all out to you. Well apart from the bit where I have to nervously wait to see what you think!
I will be back again next week to introduce another of the talented makers. xo
