Grand Designs Live

Grand Designs Live

I have always wanted to go to Grand Designs Live, so when John Lewis kindly offered me a couple of tickets I jumped at the chance. I don't watch much TV at all but I do watch Grand Designs. And I happen to know a lovely person who also enjoys Grand Designs, so together Catherine and I set off on a little Bank Holiday adventure.

I have to say that I was a little underwhelmed by the whole show. I was expecting to be blown away, to be totally inspired, to go home a little bit grumpy that I can't build my own house right here, right now, and to have a million and one interior design things on my wish-list of purchases and DIYs.

Sadly, it wasn't quite like that but I did find some treasures amongst it all. The first thing that stood out for me was this room. It is a Room Set to inspire visitors and was put together by stylist  Maxine Brady. I really love the colours and there are so many fun and inspiring details from many places.

I loved this fun and happy children's garden designed by Georgia Lindsay. We use lots of these colourful trugs in our home but I am now thinking about using them in the garden too.

I am a little obsessed with kitchens, so it's no surprise I found some things I liked in that section, like this Ikea kitchen.

And of course the new Smeg small appliances were as beautiful in real life as I thought they might just be.

In the John Lewis kitchen section I loved all the kitchen accessories, particularly the Orla Kiely and Sophie Conran goodies.

Finally, my favourite of the show was this amazing table from D*Haus. It opens up, it rearranges, it can be a square, a triangle, it can store things...it is genius! And the best bit is that they had it in ice-cream colours. Amazing!

Thank you again John Lewis for the tickets and Happy 150th Birthday!

The show is open until 11th May if you fancy popping along.

PS - I almost forgot the magnet paint from Kidicraft!
