A month with baby Rudi

Little Rudi was one month old yesterday. Wow! Time really does fly when you have three other children whizzing around!

When I saw this cute idea for 12 months of photos I knew I wanted to do it for Rudi, so this is her first one. I didn't do a great job of making it as I had about two minutes to glue it on but hopefully I'll have some more time to make the rest!

I love how expressive she has become and we've loved her first smiles over the past couple of days. Great timing for her official one month photos!

I really can't believe that Rudi has been with us for a whole month already but at the same time I can't imagine life without her. She has fitted right in and I've been overwhelmed by how much her siblings love her.

So many people have gasped in horror/shock/worry when I've told them that Rudi is my fourth, especially when I was pregnant. It is obviously a lot of work but I'm not sure it's any harder than having 2 or 3 children. My children help each other and help me. This morning my 6 year old was helping my 2 year old get dressed. Every morning my 6 and 4 year olds get up and go downstairs and make breakfast together. When I am feeding Rudi my children all play together, or all snuggle around me and Rudi in the sofa (my favourite option!). When I had my second my first was just 2. When I was feeding baby Oren (or Oron as she called him. Still makes me giggle!) she had to play by herself. That wasn't so easy.

I am absolutely loving having a newborn again and I think a lot of that is because I've done it three times before. I am confident in my newborn mothering skills and very relaxed and happy. I have had a couple of moments of complete hit the brick wall exhaustion and I've also got a bit frustrated and tired on growth spurt days when it feels like I am breastfeeding all day and night. But because my husband knows the signs of this from past babies, he knows how to help me get through it and what will help me.

It is so lovely having grown together as parents over the past six years. Yes, we still face challenges and there will be so many more to come as the children grow but we are a super parenting team now and I think that's helped with having Rudi. When you have your first you have to not only learn to be a parent but learn to be a parent with someone else, and no matter how well you know each other this is challenging.

Rudi completes how family so perfectly. We have been out a few times all together and it feels so very lovely to be six. I am so excited about all the family adventures we have to come. And all the love flowing round our house right now is just so special.

Rudi we love you! Thank you for joining our family and making us all so very happy. xxx
