Making dreams happen

All afternoon today I had excited butterflies in my tummy. It was just such a lovely feeling. And why did I have them? Because so many of the things I had hoped for and planned to happen are lining up, coming together and becoming reality.

I made a big leap into the unknown when I decided to stop working as a wedding photography and change my direction. I had ideas of what I wanted to do but it wasn't quite as simple as saying I'll be a portrait photographer, for example.

Instead I had thoughts about bringing together my writing, photography, craft, styling, parenting and teaching in some way. Really it was an idea about bringing together my life and my work much more closely, in a way that both would compliment each other and most importantly fit with my life as a mother of four.

Two things were key to me in my planning, happiness and creativity. When I am happy, I can be creative and when I am creative I am happy. But, most importantly when I am happy and when I have space for creativity, I am the best mother I can be to my children.

Lots of things are now coming together and I'm exactly where I dreamed I would be at this moment in time, which has taken me by surprise a little bit! I had a plan at the beginning of the year about where I wanted to be at the end of 2013 but I really thought it might take another year to actually happen. It's all so exciting. There's lots of 'coming soon' going on that I can't share (boo...hiss...!) but that's ok. I can tell you, however, that 2014 is looking set to be pretty special for me.

And I can share this! My new Emily Quinton site, made by my clever Stef. Anyone who has visited my site in the past will know this is a big change from all those weddings. The new site sums up my dreams perfectly! x

{ps - take a moment to view it on a desktop/laptop for the video!}
